Had a great meeting with Robyn today. Lovely person, as was her fellow student Vicky whom I briefly met on this occasion. We used the filtration system on 3 samples of Downderry sand. These had beautiful qualities themselves once seen on the filter papers (9 collected in total). I shall be returning in a fortnight to use the microscope and then hopefully take same images. Had a look at one sample today and there was a tiny strand of blue. With the sand it looked dangerously beautiful. Being with Robyn today and discussing the state of the oceans, has highlighted further for me that funding into a solution for this is very necessary. This work has to promote this situation. It's not too late!
